Our Story
In December, 2006, Domus Studio Architects, with David Pfeifer as project manager, began working with the parish design committee to envision a first-class facility for formation, fellowship and service. From these meetings, a Parish Master Plan was developed to revitalize our parish campus with facilities that reflect our unique environment and geography. In December, 2007, Bishop Tod Brown and the Diocesan Construction Board approved our Plan, and in June, 2009, the City of San Clemente granted Resolution 09-39 allowing us to move forward. Steve Granich from MPA Construction Management joined our team in July of 2010.
In December 2010, Bluefin Construction, under the leadership of Don Fischbeck, broke ground to bring to reality Phase I of our Parish Master Plan. Phase 1 includes the re-engineering of our front entrance, refurbishing of our sports field and construction of our new parish hall. Throughout this time, 655 parish households have sacrificially pledged over $5 million for this effort.
We now see the results of our prayers, discernment, planning, and sacrifice. McGowan Hall is ready! Msgr. Anthony McGowan, after 70 years of ministry and 35 years at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, continues to worship with us and model for us Christian holiness and service.
Our Lady of Fatima Parish is moving forward into a new era of parish life. Through worship and prayer, formation and study, social ministry, and community relationships, we will grow with one another as stewards of God’s gifts. May McGowan Hall remain for decades and generations as a place where we as a community Reveal the Light of Christ!
