The Youth Ministry of Our Lady of Fatima Parish focuses on the spiritual, social, and service development in a teen's life. Our purpose is to grow in our Catholic faith and spiritual life while deepening a personal relationship with Christ, developing friendships and community relationships, and contributing to our community through the various social service opportunities.

The Youth Ministry at OLF begins as early as Middle School and continues throughout the High School Confirmation years.

Confirmation Preparation for High Schoolers
In Junior High we are engaging in and celebrating the sacredness of ordinary, everyday life which is what we are called to do as Catholic Christians!  We are learning about Jesus, His Church, and His brothers and sisters – ourselves!  We are learning about family and relationships. And we are developing relationships with each other that will last a lifetime! We are an awesome group serving an awesome God!

Junior High Program

The Confirmation journey for high school students in grades 9 – 12 is a two-year process.

Candidates begin their journey by participating in the Ritual of Commitment where they stand before the community of Our Lady of Fatima Parish and formally express their desire to become adult members of the Church.

The process for Confirmation is designed to be flexible so that teens may integrate preparation for the sacrament into their already busy lives.  Participants will select between basic and elective classes based on their current involvement in religious education programs. In addition to classes, candidates will participate in activities, parish and diocesan events, service projects, retreats and regular participation in Sunday liturgies.

Sponsors play a critical role in the process by providing insight, support and encouragement.  Because of this a person chosen as a Sponsor must be willing and able to be there throughout the Candidate’s journey.

Upon completion of the requirements, Candidates are affirmed by the community during the Ritual of Acceptance and sent to the Bishop for Confirmation.

Confirmation Retreat
Second year Confirmation Candidates will spent the weekend of March 12 - 14 at Indian Hills Camp in Jamul, California preparing for their Confirmation which takes place on April 17th.  Teens reflect on the importance of using the gifts that God has given them to bring Christ to their world. They also focus on preparing themselves to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

These photos will help you see this activity through the eyes of the teens who participated last year.
